Cashiers NC Things to Do Summer Festivals Your summertime vacation in Cashiers, NC, is a great time to unwind and soak up some mountain views but it’s also a chance to experience local culture, arts and music. Check out our list of just some of the many things to do in Cashiers this summer:

  • Throughout the summer stop by The Village Green at Highways 64 and 107 in Cashiers to check out the Sculpture on the Green Biennial Invitational Exhibition with 10 works by 10 national sculptors.
  • Check out the summertime performances at the Highlands Playhouse as it celebrates 75 years of community theater. Upcoming shows include “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story” June 13-30; “Putnam County Spelling Bee” July 4-20; and “Annie” July 25-Aug. 17.
  • Hosted by the Greater Cashiers Area Merchants Association, “g,roovin’ on the green” summer concert series is 6:30 p.m. each Friday through Aug. 30 at The Village Green Commons. Check out the lineup of bands playing everything from bluegrass to Southern rock.
  • Highlands Cashiers Chamber Music Festival runs June 28 through Aug. 11 with internationally known musicians, trios and quartets and a number of special events. Check out the full schedule online.
  • Mountain Artisans Summertime Arts & Crafts Show is June 29-30 at the WCU Ramsey Center in Cullowhee. The event features 100 artisans and demonstrations.
  • Fireworks on the Green is set for July 5 with a massive fireworks display and live music by The Extraordinaires beginning at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free; bring your chairs and blankets. The Farmers Market and On the Side BBQ will have food available for purchase.
  • The Bascom art center in Highlands, NC, hosts the Mountains in Bloom 2013 Garden Festival from July 11-14 with lectures, garden tours and a flower show.
  • The Church of the Good Shepherd is hosting a bazaar and auction on July 12-13. The silent and live auctions are July 12 at the church in Cashiers, and the bazaar is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 13 at the Cashiers Community Center.
  • The Joy Garden Tour is a biennial event to raise financial support for The Village Green. This summer’s event is July 17-19 with speakers, parties and garden shops with 35 vendors offering plants, garden related merchandise, unique gifts and antiques. Plus don’t miss the tour of private gardens in the Cashiers area.
  • Tennis superstars Andy Roddick and Jim Courier take to the court at Cedar Creek Racquet Club in Cashiers, NC, for The Mountain Challenge Charity Tennis Exhibition on July 27.   • The Village Green and the Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust host several events during the summer as part of The Village Nature Series. These free presentations are at 7 p.m. on the last Tuesday of each month through October at The Village Green Commons. Topics include life in the bogs, Cherokee gardens and birds of prey.   • Cashiers Designer Showhouse offers access to three homes, plus grounds, shop areas and stables at Serenity Acres. Events run Aug. 17 to Sept. 1.
